Our Expectations

Volunteers are expected to conduct themselves professionally and uphold the standards of Malta Red Cross.

Volunteers contribute their time freely, but the quality of their work must always reflect the professional standards expected of Malta Red Cross.

Time is given freely. Professionalism is not optional. Every volunteer represents the Society in their conduct, reliability, and care for the people we serve.

Volunteers must

  1. Uphold the 7 Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Read the Fundamental Principles
  2. Comply with the Malta Red Cross Code of Conduct.
  3. Follow all applicable Society policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
  4. Respect safeguarding requirements.
  5. Maintain confidentiality.
  6. Respect health and safety requirements.
  7. Respect data protection obligations.
  8. Treat all individuals with dignity and respect.
  9. Maintain any role-specific qualifications or competencies where required.
  10. Protect the reputation and integrity of Malta Red Cross.

Malta Red Cross is currently the only organisation in Malta authorised to issue ILSF-recognised lifeguard and water rescue certifications. Join us to gain internationally recognised training and help save lives across Malta and Gozo.
