Community First Response Units

01.06.2017

Initiated in the Summer of 2016, the Community First Response Units patrol various localities in Malta providing essential medical assistance to those in need until the arrival of an ambulance.  The Society’s rapid response to interventions was the leading factor of the reduction of the national response rate by 25% during the summer months

The Community First Response Units are not an ambulance service and the public is urged to call the National Emergency number 112 in the event of a medical emergency.

North

As it did last year, the Malta Red Cross Society has started the Community First Response service in the North.  Localities within the area include: Qawra, Bugibba, St. Pauls Bay, Mgarr, Ghajn Tuffieha and Mellieha

South

Due to the success of the Medical First Response Unit which operated in the north of Malta during the Summer of 2016, Malta Red Cross felt the need to expand this service to cover the South of the island.  Therefore, through funds granted by the Voluntary Organisations Project Scheme, administered mill-Ministry for Social Dialogue, Consumer Affairs and Civil Liberties, the Society started this service on the 1st of June.  Localities covered by the service include: Marsaskala, Marsaxlokk and Birzebbuga.
